Stage 3 - 2014/2015Pigment ProjectFor this project I continued to look at creating my own pigment. Rather than painting a landscape I have focussed more on the colours of each place. Collecting more pigments, I have managed to have a minimum of 3 pigments for each location. Using the colours of that place I was able to recreate the sense of the area rather than having an actual image.

Final Piece
For this piece I collected three different types of soils from Cawsands, Magpie Bridge and Mothercombe, once I had collected them I took them back to the studio where I used a pestle and mortar to grind them into a fine powder. Hoping to show the range of colours you can get from Devon and Cornwall, I have used a technique called twanging to leave pigment marks on the wall. For this process I covered some wool with the pigment and secured it to pins on the wall, when the wool is pulled back and let go it leaves a beautiful line of the pigment on the wall.
